The Right Way

Psalms 84:5 Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them.

~ It isn't enough just to know the Word, you need to also know the person of Jesus Christ.~

In Psalm 84:5 We are told that if our strength is in God, and our hearts are in the right way, we are blessed (Happy). What did Jesus tell us in John 14:6?   He said that HE, Jesus Christ, is the WAY, and you can't get to the Father without going through HIM.  That lets me know that the very first thing I need to focus on every day is Christ.

Let's be honest.  We get up in the morning and our first thoughts are usually about coffee and the bathroom, and not necessarily in that order.  We are human beings with human needs. Those are normal daily activities.  We have to eat, we have to sleep, we have to drive our kids to school, pay bills, cook, clean and work.  But how happy we are while we accomplish our lives is relevant to how much we let Christ rule.  You know it, and I know it.  We would rather just pretend to have Him in our thoughts and behave well in our own abilities as Christians, but God didn't tell us we would be happy pretending, now did He?

So, how do we make sure we are in the right "way"?  How do we head to God in His strength?  It is an absolute must, must, must that we humble ourselves and become honest with Him first thing in the morning.  We have to bow our knees, admit we canNOT do anything well in our flesh.  We have to confess all the sin in our hearts and thank Him for His new mercies.  We MUST come clean.  Then once we are laid out in front of HIM not trusting our own wicked selves, He can work in us for His glory.  He can then guide our way.

All day long your flesh will want to take over.  Shoot, I guarantee you that five minutes after you are up off your knees that your flesh will bow up against the Spirit of God.  And that moment is critical.  You will start the process of giving in to one or the Other.  The choice is always left up to you.  Just ask yourself if you want a Blessed/Happy Day?  Or, do you want to fight all day long and wage war with the works you will perform in the flesh?

As day after day progresses and you implement change in your life and try to follow Christ first, you will begin to know Him better.  You will read the Word, but you will also have a good intimate relationship with Jesus Christ.  Wow.  Can it get any better than that?

Until next time, Lord willing,
Sheri
