God the Great Rescuer

Matthew 14:31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?,

Here in Brazil my favorite hymn is “Jesus Me Transformou”  which to you in America is “Love Lifted Me”.  I like this song because it talks about how the person is a lost sinner, far from the Saviour, hopeless and destitute, but Jesus sees him, loves him, rescues him and transforms him.  I believe that is my life story in a nut shell.  Jesus Christ rescued me.  He saw me sinking in my doubt about everything and reached out and rescued me.

We have all heard a sermon or ten on Peter walking on the water.  I have even seen a preacher stand in a kiddie pool while preaching about it!  But the story of what happened should never get old to us and we should never fail to see it duplicated in our own lives.  God is the Great Rescuer of anyone wanting to be saved!

Have you happened across this blog today and don’t even know how you are going to make it through this day?  God can rescue you and while He is rescuing you, He can fill you with peace that He is in control.  I suggest you stop and pray, tell Him you are sinking and in and of yourself there is no hope or help.  Tell Him you need Him, then look for His hand.

Are you reading this today and you are doubting your personal salvation or have never called on God to save you?  Did you know that you can settle that right here and right now?  You can be rescued from an eternity in hell by a God that made a way for everyone to be saved.  It won’t cost you a dime either.  You need to realize you are a sinner and that sin has a price tag:  death.  It is either yours or Christs.  That is the choice in front of you.  You can continue thinking that you can rescue yourself or you can trust in what Christ did by dying on the cross, shedding His blood and then 3 days later rising again conquering death, hell and the grave.

Christ wants to rescue you from going to hell.  If you go there, it will be because you didn’t trust Him to be your personal Rescuer.

When my husband was a boy he was almost lost at sea on a little float.  His dad almost drowned while trying to rescue him. Wouldn’t it have been dumb if when the life guards got to my husband he were to deny their ability to save him from certain death?  I think so.

Don’t let religion tell you that it is able to rescue you.  It can’t.  It may make you feel better, but feeling better isn’t the same as being completely healed.  Don’t let your friends tell you that you will have to become a fanatic in a church if you want to get saved.  That is not true, although I will say, once you are rescued and you see how free you are from the penalty of hell, you will be so grateful to God for rescuing you that you will want to thank Him by talking about Him.  I do.

Maybe you are saved, but you are a long ways off floating away on your own in life.  Your heart is broken and your life feels torn apart too.  You once trusted God to save you from hell, so why don’t you trust Him to rescue you from the situation you are currently battling?  He will rescue you if you will let Him.  Don’t push Him away any longer.

I hope by the time you are finished reading this post today, you feel like there is hope for your life and hope for the lives of the people you love.  God is the Great Rescuer…He can rescue and transform any life out there.

Until next time, Lord willing,

Sheri
