Let this Mind be in you

Do you ever wake up singing a song that you remember singing when you went to sleep? Ever wonder if you have been singing all night? Makes me smile just to think about it. Be careful what your brain absorbs before going to sleep because it could continue in your subconscious mind but you are an adult and already know that, right? Then, what is it that tempts us to watch some gruesome movie late at night?

My sister and I would turn on the television after our dates on Saturday night, quickly cut up a pan full of potatoes, fry them and sit in front of the box to watch some black and white wild and woolly movie like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde or King Kong! After the French fries and “almost” to the end of the movie, we would run to bed scared to death and then wonder why we had nightmares! It could have been the movie or the fact that our guts were full of greasy potatoes!  Oh me….the things we do as young people.

Our minds…….May I encourage you as you finish up this year of 2015 to begin filling your minds with more of spiritual “things” and enjoy the reaping as you approach the end of 2016. Books can be bought, checked out or down loaded to your computer. Read, read, read, spiritual material! If your eyes are going bad, down load some things to listen to but whatever you do, stay connected with spiritual things. Sheri and I have worked diligently to share with you our journey this year simply by writing our connecting thoughts from the Holy Bible to our MINDS, thus allowing God to work and hoping that you, and others will pick up the Blessed Book to know HIM much more than previous years.

Information connects with information. I live daily with this thought and know that is how we learn to keep learning. Once we know how a child learns, we can connect to their process and feed them knowledge useful for their increasing knowledge. God does that with us even as we age! We are ALL different, Praise the Lord! I would not want anyone as I am BUT, we can learn from each other can’t we, and share the truths of His Word. You may want to “change up” some things this next year or “double up” on other things. You will not grow without being in His Word every day. Are you tired of Sheri and me saying this over and over and over? My desire is to see, know and to hear of your growth in Christ. I may not be able to do that until Heaven, but whatever we do here on earth will reap benefits here AND in heaven IF done within God’s will and we cannot do it without filling our lives with Spiritual things.

First and above all, The Bible should be displayed 24/7 in the home and as much as allowed everywhere else. Same place, same time, same Bible is a must for good solid, faithful devotions or else you will keep wandering around trying to figure out “how to have a successful alone time with God.” Get a journal and write down “stuff” and watch God create a writer out of you. Share your thoughts but only as He leads.

Ro 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Secondly, our music should be that which goes through the ear gate to the brain causing us to worship and praise the Lord while uplifting Jesus and not others. Be careful with your music and know that your teens will drop below your tolerance level of music. Be mindful of what you tolerate in your home. Just because you made it through the junk doesn’t mean that your precious teen will. It is NOT worth it. Trust me, an old woman…..the stories that young people share with me breaks my heart. The one remark that sticks like no other is this, “I wish Mom and Dad had made me give up my rock music.” You may need to fight the battle now, rather than lose the war later on.

1Co 14:15 ¶ What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.

You and I know what is good and what is not. Just be obedient this 2016. If not for yourself, do it for your children.

Job 21:12 They take the timbrel and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the organ.
Job 21:13 They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down to the grave.
Job 21:14 Therefore they say unto God, Depart from us; for we desire not the knowledge of thy ways.

Music gets a hold of some people, like porn does to some…..and it is NOT worth it.

Thirdly, our friends and other influences should be of the same mind and conviction. You cannot mix the world and Christianity. We GO TO them and share Jesus, but we cannot mix it up, even if you have several degrees behind your name…..it will not work! History has proven it, and above that, God’s Word is adamant and leaves no guessing for you. If you have a husband who is not a believer, trust God’s direction and make changes as HE directs and be careful to NOT provoke your man! God will direct you and I say again, “Trust in His Word.”

Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

2Co 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

I pray this helps you. Let’s help each other as we face 2016. This could be the year of great persecution for us as believers and we MUST be strong to be able to withstand the enemy!

Until next time, Lord willing!
Sharon
